I've seen quite a lot of students interviewing foreigners in Prambanan, and wondering how's the foreigners thought about that... hahaha... I laugh when read the "birding expedition" you mention here :D

Anyway, I'm Indonesian living in Yogyakarta, and enjoy reading your traveling blog.

Haha, thanks for your comment Lala. I've just been in the Australian outback -- that's why I haven't done any entries lately. Will do some soon. I've heard that tourists photograph the Aboriginies around here -- sometimes without their permission even (they should ask). Seems like this phenomenon is repeating itself in my travels. People are always curious about the unfamiliar.

First, nice story...

Lala told me about your story about Prambanan and "birding expedition". Believe me, I am sure that many foreigners will find it a little bit odd.

Yes, in Indonesia, students get their English subject in school, 12 - 17 years old students. I think you heard a Javanese-English accent there... :)

Anyway, if you find students or people who ask you "How are you?", "Where are you from?", etc... They just want to be friendly. It does not mean that they want to disturb you or want something from you...

Anyway, thanks for sharing your story about Yogyakarta... Have a nice trip!

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your comment. I definitely enjoyed Prambanan, and was glad the students talked to us. It's always so much more interesting when you can talk to local people.
